About the area

The Costa Blanca, Calida & Almeria

This area offers a diversity of coastline, beaches, entertainment and property that will meet most peoples needs, whether they are looking for a short holiday break, to buy a holiday home or indeed to move permanently to the area.

All three coasts offer a remarkably temperate and healthy climate in which to live or just enjoy a brief visit. The daytime temperature rarely falls below 18° C in winter and in summer top temperatures average 28° to 32° C. The Costa Blanca, Calida and Almeria region enjoys approximately 300 days of sun a year.

Costa Blanca

Click for Alicante, Spain ForecastAlicante is the capital of the Blanca area and offers an enormous range of shops and restaurants to satisfy the most ardent visitor. In addition the main airport for the Blanca is close to the town.

To the north of Alicante you will find several established holiday resorts and 50 km to the south you will find the town of Torrevieja and the developing coastal area of Orihuela Costa. This area is now serviced by a new motorway (AP7) which runs from Alicante in the north to Cartagena in the south.

In addition the area is also serviced by the Murcia airport (San Javier), the main airport for the Calida some 25 km south of Torrevieja and is increasingly being used by U.K. airlines. The beaches in the area are outstanding and many have been awarded the treasured 'blue flag' by the E.U. This award recognizes the cleanliness and safety of beaches in this area.

To the north of Torrevieja you will find 17 km of sandy beaches surrounded by a protected woodland area. In addition south of Torrevieja you will find numerous coves and beaches.

Costa Calida

Click for Murcia, Spain Forecast The main attraction of the Costa Calida is the Mar Menor, a part of the mediterranean that is cut off from the open sea by a peninsula called the La Manga Strip. This created a shallow lagoon sea that is connected to the open sea and attracts people addicted to watersports. The lagoon also make mud baths possible that are famous too.

The area around the Mar Menor was has attracted local tourists for many years, now more and more foreign tourists are seeking this area too. There are several typical Spanish towns (San Pedro, Santiago de La Ribera, San Javier) close by for you to visit that offer beautiful architecture and historical buildings. Surrounding these towns are original and untouched landscape.

Costa Almeria

Click for Almeria, Spain Forecast One of the greatest attractions of the Costa Almeria area is the coastline which snakes along for 14 km of uninterrupted, breathtaking, serenity. This can be contrasted with other shorelines in this area that are fragmented and hidden by cliffs and mountains that reach down to the coastline itself.

The main towns are Vera with Vera Playa, Garrucha, Mojacar Pueblo with Mojacar Playa and Almeria. The area is served by the Murcia airport and the Almeria airport. The area is unspoilt and very Spanish.

The Three Coasts

All have quite different characters and offer something for everyone whether it be to move permanently or have a holiday home. For the more adventurous there are the 5 main cities in the area. Namely, Alicante (the capital of the Blanca area) - Elche - Murcia (the capital of the Calida area), Cartagena and Almeria (the capital of the Almeria area) which all have interesting histories and are certainly worth visiting.

Golf

Golf provides a major attraction on the Costa Blanca, Costa Calida and also Costa Almeria. There are many 18 hole courses available to play and in addition many more are planned or already under construction. The outstanding climate allows golf to be enjoyed all the year round.
